Learn more about ACTS DIP Program
October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, a time to recognize the profound impact domestic violence has on individuals, families, and communities. At ACTS, we understand that trauma from domestic violence can contribute to substance use and complicate the recovery process.
One key program is the Domestic Violence Intervention Program (DIP) at the Polk Juvenile Assessment Center. This program is designed to provide intervention services to families identified as having a higher risk for substance abuse due to domestic violence occurring in the home. Its goal is to interrupt the predictive relationship between domestic violence and substance use by offering both prevention and intervention services after a domestic violence offense involving a juvenile in Polk, Highlands, or Hardee Counties.
Families participating in the program receive comprehensive support, including:
- Substance abuse prevention services
- Violence intervention services
- Approximately 12 weeks of counseling focusing on communication, conflict resolution, and anger management
Through this approach, ACTS helps families break the cycle of violence and address patterns that can lead to substance use, fostering healthier relationships and long-term recovery.
Domestic violence and substance use are deeply connected, but with the right interventions and support, healing is possible. At ACTS, we are committed to standing with survivors, providing resources, guidance, and care to help families rebuild their lives safely and sustainably.
